TEASPOON SHOTS OF SIN Hello Ms. Maggie This is your Midwestern boy I’m feeling that something That gets you inside Feeling sorry there wasn’t more time To deal the last card You should have seen it last night My joker running wild Trying to break them in Teaspoon shots of sin Frisco pack me in Welcome that smile We’d be lapping it up all the while Daydream again Cruising down the Seine Who’ll you be, friend You should have seen it last night My joker running wild Trying to break them in Teaspoon shots of sin Frisco pack me in I wasn’t expecting much Just to fall in love You know how it is when you’re alone You look for the eyes that tell you I could love you I could live without you It’s too good to be you I could love you I could live without you It’s too good to be you copyright / Dan Mihalovich (Dan Moss)

Waves of Me 05:32
WAVES OF ME What was it that you wanted Your story is confusing to me Tell me that you’re humble In a dream your spirit’s free Heavy in the hand but the words take the lead To make you a pauper talking rhymeless deeds The cup is full now, look his is empty Sold himself short, the second coming guarantee Hold me and lie And drink from the riverbed Clouds bursting round Not a drop on your head Sending you for none to see Measures of the music and the waves of me Listening to what you give, a line and a laugh We’ll make it on the trip back, oh I’ll have to pass You lead me on home Where the day is no longer And show me a photograph Of a prize and a mother When will you stop thinking of you No color to show, no warmth, no heart Man you’ve got a lot to forgive, need a place to start Moment after last, I’m your friend forever….forever copyright / Dan Mihalovich (Dan Moss)

WHAT A SAINT YOU ARE Good afternoon to you all I’ve been waiting for this opportunity And there’s no better time and no better place Your temptations will wait til tomorrow I’ll try to make this brief I know you’re pressed for time You’re out on a date Got a short lunch break The bills gotta be paid You gotta have your first baby Slow down. What the hell’s the hurry? Have I got your attention? Can you stand a critique? Well aren’t you tired of hearing yourself tell all those lies about What a saint you are “Now wait a minute.” What a saint you are! See how long your patience can last Disregard this request if you take me in jest What we need for our pie is a sprinkle of truth A teaspoon of kindness and a lot less surprises Isn’t it true you were out late the other night? Spent too much time talkin, but that’s alright You gotta make an impression to get to the top Now keep tellin those fairy tales Your answer is pride But you don’t hear the question sometimes May you be happy, I give you my blessing Just remember, remember, remember misfortune begins in the mind Oh it begins in the mind See how long your patience can last Disregard this request if you take me in jest What we need for our pie is a sprinkle of truth A teaspoon of kindness and a lot less surprises copyright / Dan Mihalovich (Dan Moss)

BEATEN HEARTS Beaten hearts You know that’s what we all are Lonely crowded towns Wearing out patience trying to tear them down Where we’d be without the snow and the spirit Your lover says that her heart’s not in it Well I can’t tell you What it means to be alive But you can try me anytime I’m in the mirror, right before your eyes Where are you now? Are you really that much kinder? Is the hurt a reminder? Old friends chasing you That full moon looks great around your finger Soul searching Like a crab through the sand Screaming downstream And running up land Jealous of your old girl who found her man Playing for her heart and paying with your soul © Dan Mihalovich (Dan Moss)

about

Singer/songwriter, Dan Moss, grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area…..but sometime after college lived in the Midwest. All those decades ago, he booked a session at a recording studio to lay down several originals. Just him….and his acoustic guitar. His first guitar, a 1970 Yamaha FG300 😉 Recalling the session, Dan said, “It was 57 below with a wind chill. But I’d already put money down to do the recording, so bad weather be damned. Hopefully my car wouldn’t break down on the way!” The reel to reel recordings lived in a box stored for….decades….until 2023, after recording a couple of albums with the Dan Moss band at King Tide Studio in Sausalito – he thought to ask studio owner, Tim Baker, whether the old tape could be revived and restored to digital. The tapes were “baked”, digitized, then mastered by David Simon Baker. These Lost Archives, four songs of love, lost love, a young man’s passions, liberation and exploration were signs of musical things to come. You can hear a dozen more of Dan’s originals on albums, “70 Westbound” and “Violet at Night”. Dan Moss also appears as vocal artist for label About Songs, on “My Favorite Christmas Present”. Enjoy!

Dan Moss originals; vocals and acoustic guitar. With thanks to Tim Baker of King Tide Studio in Sausalito, CA for knowing exactly what to do with the decades-old, reel to reel tapes of the original recordings. He baked the tapes and digitized the recordings. Then the illustrious David Simon Baker mastered the recordings. Viola.
